Empowering Families Through Informed Advocacy

I believe that the most effective support happens at the intersection of Lived Experience and Applied Science. My approach and advocacy is rooted in trauma-informed care, the science of brain development, and the ethical frameworks of professional peer mentoring.

These credentials ensure that while my work is led by the heart, it is guided by proven, evidence-based practices that prioritize family stability and the healthy development of the children in our care.

Ongoing professional development is the cornerstone of effective advocacy. My training background helps bridge the gap between lived experience and clinical research, including the 'Brain Story' of child development and the professional standards of Peer Mentorship. This ensures that every strategy I share is evidence-based and aligned with the highest standards of the social service sector.

Alberta Family Wellness Initiative & The Salix Foundation

Lifelong health is influenced by more than just our genes. Experiences during sensitive periods of development can shape the brain in ways that either increase or reduce the risk of future physical and mental health issues, including addiction. This foundational insight is the core of the Brain Story, a compelling narrative that translates complex scientific research into accessible concepts for all audiences.

British Columbia Mental Health & Addictions

"Where We Are At" is a first of its kind (approved by the government of British Columbia) curriculum that’s been guided and evaluated by existing peer support organizations and people with lived experience in the province – from start to finish.

"We know that if the door people knock on is opened by someone who shares lived and living experience with you, then the likelihood that you’ll stay connected to care is greatly increased. The unique capacity of those with lived and living experience to create bonds of trust and encourage clients towards hope-inducing strategies is one the most powerful and effective interventions in our healthcare system."
